INDIVIDUAL TOOTH MOVEMENT
These relatively simeple alternative treatments offer life changing results.
The frog spring appliance.
An ingenious and alternative option to the single tooth expansion screw or to the less effective finger spring, the frog spring offers full bodily movement of individual anterior teeth. Usually used in young patients with mixed dentition, it can effectively move anterior teeth from a potentially lingually locked postition therefore heading off costly future fixed orthodontics.
An excellent interceptive orthdontic device. Requires expert wire-bending skills to manufacture but is simply activated chairside by pulling forward on and therefore lengthening and activating the springs to their desired tension. A simple yet very effective appliance.
Single tooth movement appliance.
This 43 year-old male has had no prior orthodontic treatment. He has a well-rounded arch and normal occlusion with the exception of one lingually locked lateral, #10, and a minor rotation of #7.
By adding a single tooth moving screw on #10, an S spring on #7, and a Hawley labial bow to control position, a posterior bite-plate and adequate clasping, this man now has the smile he has always wanted in 10 to 12 weeks without fixed wire orthodontics.
